Evangeline Downs Set To Close Out Its QH Season Saturday Night With Exciting Stakes Program

OPELOUSAS, LA�DECEMBER 18, 2014�Evangeline Downs will wrap up its 46-day American Quarter Horse season on Saturday night with an exciting program that will feature five stakes races, highlighted by the $214,650 Evangeline Downs Futurity for 2-year-olds competing at 400 yards. The action packed night of racing will also feature a special early post time of 5:20 pm CT.

The closing night program will include five stakes races (See related story) and an all-stakes Pick 4 wager on races eight through 11. The eighth race has a scheduled post time of approximately 8:15 pm.

In addition to the Evangeline Downs Futurity, which will go as the 11th race on the card, the track will also host the $126,225 Evangeline Downs Derby for 3-year-olds going 400 yards (race 10), the $25,000 Sam�s Town Stakes for older horses traveling 350 yards (race 9), the $25,000 IP 870 at 870 yards (race 7), and the $20,000 Blue Chip Starter to be run at 330 yards (race 8).

After Evangeline Downs closes out its American Quarter Horse season this week, the track will look forward to the return of Thoroughbreds next spring. The 2015 season, which will include 84 days of live racing, will begin on opening night, Wednesday, April 8 and through Saturday, August 29.
