Trials Set For LQHBA Louisiana Million At Evangeline Downs
On that night, 14 trials will take place with the 10 fastest times from those races qualifying for the final of the $1,000,000 Louisiana Million (RG1), which will be run on Saturday, December 15.
There are 123 accredited Louisiana-breds entered across the 14 trials, with two trainers leading the way with 10 entrants each. Kenneth Roberts, Sr. and Josue Huitron both reached double digits with their trainees entered.
Two of the Huitron horses entered have already won futurity finals in 2018. Im For Real won the Grade 2 Louisiana Lassie Futurity in May at Delta Downs and has been made the 5-2 morning-line favorite in the second trial on Friday night.
Eysa Jess Jumpn has won four of six lifetime starts, including the Grade 1 Lee Berwick Futurity at Delta Downs in July. The filly has been installed as the 9-5 morning-line favorite in the sixth trial. Guadalupe Lucio, Jr. will ride both fillies on Friday night.
Three other futurity final winners are entered in the trials for the Louisiana Million on Friday night.
Guidry Pride II has never been worse than second in five lifetime starts and was the winner of the Grade 2 Mardi Gras Futurity at Louisiana Downs in March. The colt has been made the 3-1 morning-line favorite in the ninth trial on Friday.
Amending The Bar has won three of four lifetime starts and scored a win in the Grade 1 LQHBA Sale Futurity at Fair Grounds in September. The filly has been made the 9-5 morning-line favorite in the 12th trial of the night.
Shakeshakeshakeit has only one win in four career starts, but it was a big victory in the Grade 2 Louisiana Laddie Futurity at Delta Downs in May. This colt is the 2-1 morning-line choice in the 13th of the trial races.
Since there will be additional races run on the Friday, November 16 program at Evangeline Downs, the first post time has been moved to an earlier time of 4:50 pm Central Time.
