A Nother Zoobilee was much the best today when he rolled over the field in an $11,000 400 yard feature Allowance (see related story) for 3-year-olds and up at Louisiana Downs. The freshly painted toteboard, new signage and festive landscaping are just a few changes already implemented by the track's new owner, Rubico Acquisition Corporation.
Track officials have indicated that additional promotions are in the works, much to the delight of race and sports fans in the Bossier City/ Shreveport Metroplex.
Horsemen are focused on readying their 2-year-olds for the upcoming Mardi Gras and Louisiana Downs Futurity. Schooling races are scheduled for February 12 for the juveniles paid into the Mardi Gras and February 19 for the Louisiana Downs Futurity eligible(s).
The 46-day live racing season continues through April 7.
Live Quarter Horse racing will be conducted Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday through March 2. Beginning Sunday, March 6, the schedule changes to Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Two Thursday race cards will be added for the final two weeks of the season. Post time will be 1:00 p.m. (Central).
