ALEXANDRIA, LA–MARCH 15, 2024–The Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders' Association (LQHBA) announced today Misty Coats will begin her duties as Assistant to the Executive Director on Monday, March 18.
Ms. Coats, a longtime employee of Heritage Place Sale Company in Oklahoma City, and her husband Greg will be moving to Louisiana.
"We are excited to have Misty join the Louisiana Team. I know Misty will be well received by our Members, the LSRC-Louisiana State Racing Commission, and LAHBPA," LQHBA Executive Director Bruce Salard said today. "Misty will play a key role in Louisiana’s breeding and racing integrity programs and with our legislative agenda."

"Misty has a demonstrated work ethic and business acumen that will broaden our ability to work with all four Louisiana Tracks as we continue our YEAR ROUND racing program with 153 RACE DAYS scheduled and over $4 MILLION in Breeder Awards paid annually to Breeders of Accredited Louisiana Bred foals," Salard added.
Misty’s husband is retired from the US Marines and has two sons attending the University of Oklahoma.
Last year (2023) Louisiana Quarter Horses raced for approximately $22.5 million in purses.
