DELCAMBRE, LA–JUNE 23, 2024–It is with profound sadness that the Migues family announces the passing of Benny J. Migues, their beloved patriarch and steadfast rock. Benny peacefully departed from this life into eternal glory on Saturday, June 22, 2024, surrounded by his cherished family. He was 75 years old.
Benny was born on May 30, 1949, in Erath to the late Sonny Migues and the late Rella Comeaux Migues. He was raised in a family deeply rooted in their Catholic faith and Cajun heritage.
Benny proudly graduated from Delcambre High School, Class of '67, and remained a devoted alumnus and supporter throughout his life. Immediately after graduation, Benny embarked on a career in the Oil and Gas Industry, beginning with Kerr McGee, Sabine Pipeline and retired from Chevron/Texaco/En-Link in 2015 after more than four decades of dedicated service.
Throughout his life, Benny enjoyed several passions that brought him joy. From a young age, his love for horses led him to co-operate A & B Quarter Horses LLC with his partner, Andre, where they bred hopeful championship bloodline horses. Benny's dream was to race "BJ's Angel Dynasty" in Louisiana and eventually have one of his horses qualify to run in Ruidoso, New Mexico, a testament to his lifelong passion for horses.
Benny was also quite the cook. His slow cooked brisket was the star of every holiday meal. Of course, he was the master of the grill for barbecue and the best when it came to boiled seafood, especially crawfish. Meals were usually followed by Cajun games of bourre’ which he loved to play.
For relaxation, Benny mowed his yard, watched the horse races on tv or took a nap on his recliner, but everybody knows that his favorite pastime was anything that involved his sweet daughter, BJ. She was a super fan of DHS Athletics and supported all sporting events with Benny and Sandy at her side.
They cheered on the orange and black, attended LSU games in Death Valley, Saints games at the Dome, cheered on ULL and enjoyed the white sandy beaches of Florida and Orange Beach. Anywhere Brittney wanted to go was the best place where Benny wanted to be also.
Sandy fondly recalls Benny's generosity and kindness, noting his unwavering willingness to help others without hesitation. His giving spirit knew no bounds, whether it was tending to someone's yard or caring for their horses. Benny's selflessness was a source of happiness for him and a testament to his character.
Benny will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his wife of nearly 40 years, Sandy Delcambre Migues; his siblings Janora Arceneaux and Jed Migues; sister-in-law Rosslyn Delcambre; brothers-in-law Sammy Delcambre (Annette) and Rodney Credeur; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Benny is reunited with his loving twin sons, Luke and Lorne Migues, and his daughter and best friend, Brittney Jaide "BJ" Migues, along with his brothers-in-law Keith Arceneaux and Lynn Dore, and sisters-in-law Phyllis Credeur, Georgiana Delcambre and Lea Esponge.
A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Benny's life will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Benny will be laid to rest at the church mausoleum following the Mass.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre on Monday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with a Men's Rosary Group leading the rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation hours will also be held on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 9:40 am dismissal.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Sammy Delcambre, Coy Migues, Nick Landry, Kalob Moneaux, Kahlin Moneaux, Ron Dore’, Jace Dore' and Jacob Broussard, with Shawn Sigur, Andre Clemons and Darren Credeur serving as honorary pallbearers.
In remembrance of Benny's generous spirit, the family suggests donations in his name to the Community Foundation of Acadiana/Brittney Migues Delcambre High School Athletics Support Fund, a cause close to his heart in memory of his daughter BJ.
