Fair Grounds Race Course Cancels Thursday Card Due To Inclement Weather

NEW ORLEANS, LA–SEPTEMBER 10, 2024–Fair Grounds Race Course announced today it will cancel Thursday's race card due to inclement weather expected in the area.
Tropical Storm Francine is forecast to become a hurricane in the western Gulf of Mexico before making landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday. Storm surge, flooding rainfall, damaging winds, and tornadoes will impact Louisiana and other parts of the Gulf Coast and South.
Thursday's race card has been moved to Sunday, September 15, with a noon (CDT) first post.
The racetrack is expected to run the $114,390 Big Easy Futurity on Friday and the $40,000 De Saix Stakes.
Saturday's card includes the $550,714 LQHA Sale Futurity(RG1), the second richest race in the 134-year history of the historic Fair Grounds Race Course, the $50,000 LQHA Sale Juvenile and $50,000 LQHBA Sale Debutante.
